Audit Protocol pilot test concluded
The Beef on Track Program ended in May the application of the pilot test for the Unified Audit Protocol approved by the Public Prosecutor’s office (MPF) at the end of 2020. Five meat processors - JBS, Marfrig, Mercury, Minerva and Norte Boi - were invited and agreed to participate in the exercise.
"The audit protocol is a process that we have been developing since the beginning of 2020. We discussed with stakeholders the idea of creating a document that could give comparability to the information collected. Through it, independent auditors were able to use standardised instructions and parameters to check the compliance of the beef companies with the commitments they had undertaken", explained Lisandro Inakake de Souza, coordinator of Beef on Track.
The report of the webinar for the alignment of the Audit Protocol Pilot Test is available here.
According to Lisandro, the pilot test was aimed at checking if the Audit Protocol was generating consistent information so that adjustments could be made and a definitive unified protocol could be approved for all states. After approval, the new Audit Protocol will be valid for all states that are located in the Legal Amazon.
