Second edition of Training Workshop for Retailers takes place in Manaus
The second edition of the Training Workshop of the Guide for Retailers: Developing an Effective Beef Procurement Policy took place on Wednesday (20/10) in the city of Manaus in the state of Amazonas. The meetings, promoted by the Beef on Track Program of the Public Prosecutor’s Office and Imaflora, aim to support retailers in building/improving a beef procurement policy with their suppliers and customers.
The event was attended by ten participants, including members of Imaflora, the Public Prosecutor’s Office, beef processors and two representatives of DB Supermercados.
"The Workshop was excellent, it provided me with a great learning experience. All the content was presented objectively, and I was able to clear up any doubts regarding the implementation of the protocol in practice. I feel more motivated to contribute to the growth of Norte Boi", stated Gabriela Matos, administrative assistant of the company.
The content of the workshop is based on the 2013 Technical Cooperation Agreement for Sustainable Livestock, a partnership between the Brazilian Supermarket Association (Abras) and the Public Prosecutor’s Office, created to encourage the Brazilian supermarket sector to stop purchasing beef from deforested areas in the Amazon and others with environmental and social discrepancies.
The workshop series will continue on to the following cities: Belém (Pará), Cuiabá (Mato Grosso), Porto Velho (Rondônia) and São Paulo (SP).
